The Associates
1. To’ Puan Sunita Zechariah LL.B (Hons) Essex. CLP (Mal)
To’ Puan Sunita read law at the University of Essex, England and graduated with a LL.B (Hons) in 1983. On her return to Malaysia, To’ Puan Sunita attended and completed the Local Bar Course at the University of Malaya in 1985 and obtained her Certificate of Legal Practice. Thereafter, To’ Puan Sunita read in the chambers of Tan Sri Dato’ James C.Y. Foong of M/s James Foong & Anad.
On completing the requisite chambering period where To’ Puan Sunita received training in handling corporate, conveyancing and litigation work, To’ Puan Sunita was called to the Malaysian Bar on the 23rd of August 1986. Thereafter, To’ Puan Sunita joined M/s James Foong & Anad as a Legal Assistant but for personal reasons, To’ Puan Sunita resigned from the said firm and did not practice law until 1991 when she was engaged as a Consultant by our Firm on a part-time basis until October 1992. Thereafter, To’ Puan Sunita continues her employment with the Firm as a Legal Assistant.
She is now currently in charge of office administration and human resources in the office.
2. Ms. Tan Wan Yean LL.B (Hons) Malaya, LL.M (Malaya)
Executive Diploma in Islamic Banking & Finance (IIUM)

Wan Yean is a Senior Legal Associate with the firm’s corporate, conveyancing and banking group.
Her current practice area primarily revolves around corporate, corporate banking, project finance, Islamic finance, conveyancing and other property related transactions such as disposal and acquisition of real properties, leases, tenancies, property development, and estate planning. She has advised and represented clients from individuals to corporations and organisations both locally and abroad, real estate developers, local banks and financial institutions.
Wan Yean is also experienced in advising and has undertaken various corporate transactions involving joint ventures, merger and acquisition exercise involving local private and public companies, conducting due diligence on target companies, acquisition and sale of businesses and assets of companies.
3. Ms. Ashley Ng Yuet Lai LL.B (Hons) London, Bar At Law (Middle Temple)

Ashley graduated from the University of London (External) with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1996. She pursued her Bar Vocational course at Middle Temple, London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1998. She chambered with Messrs. Paul Chong & Nathan and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2000.
Ashley commenced her legal career as an associate with Messrs. Tai King & Partners doing mainly general litigation work. She found interest in conveyancing and joined Messrs. Nazri, Aziz & Wong where she handled sale and purchase agreements for housing projects and loan documents for various financial institutions.
She then continued her conveyancing practice for about 20 years with a few other law firms and in the course, she amassed extensive experience and knowledge in conveyancing and banking.
In 2003, Ashley was admitted to graduateship with The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of London and she expanded her focus to corporate related matters and corporate banking. In 2011, she became an Associate of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA).
Ashley regularly advises companies and individuals on property acquisitions and disposals, post auction matters, financing transactions (for both conventional and Islamic financing), leases and tenancies of commercial lots in shopping malls and shop offices. She also advises developers in property development and land related matters.
4. Ms. Navamalar A. Ganesan LL.B (Hons) Lond, CLPe

Navamalar graduated from University of London with LL.B (Hons) in 1992 and completed her Certificate of Legal Practice (Malaysia) in 1994. She read in the chambers of Messrs S.K.Tay & Co where she received her training in litigation matters particularly in areas of banking. Navamalar was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 8th February 1995.
Navamalar then joined Messrs Siva Ram & Associates as a Legal Assistant and she was under the guidance of Mr Ramdas Tikamdas from 1995 till 2004 where she was exposed to variety of litigatious matters. She was a litigation partner in Messrs Indran Malar from 2004 till 2007. She then joined the firm of Messrs Jasbeer Nur & Lee and was involved in variety of litigation matters.
Navamalar’s primary areas of practice are general commercial and civil litigation. Navamalar has been in active legal practice as a civil and commercial litigator and is experienced in handling banking litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency, foreclosure, hire purchase and leasing, winding up matters and liquidation matters.
In the course of her practice, Navamalar has handled a wide variety of matters, particularly claims with regards to contracts, corporate law, construction laws, employee benefits, family law, medical negligence. She has acquired the knowledge and expertise in drafting agreements and also regularly advises clients on a wide range of matters including advising on legal solutions in relation to civil and banking matters. She has appeared not only in the High Courts but also the Superior Courts in Malaysia such as the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.
In the course of her practice, she has acted for Agro Bank when Agro Bank sued the Registrar of Titles of Selangor for breach of statutory duties.
She had joined the firm as a Legal Assistant in February 2014 and is currently involved in general litigation as well as banking litigation.
5. Mr. Visvanathan Somasundaram LL.B (Hons) London, CLP
Visvanathan read law under University of London and graduated with Honors in July 1992. In 1996 he completed his Certificate of Legal Practice with Honors which is awarded by the Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board.
He completed his pupillage in the M/s VP Nathan & Co where he received training under Ms Shu Lee King in insurance claims. Visvanathan was called to the Malaysian Bar on 2nd May 1997.
Thereafter he joined M/s RK Nathan & Co as a Legal Assistant and has been active in legal practice in the area of motor insurance claims. He is well exposed in running down cases.
He joined the firm of M/s Anad Noraini in November 2001 as a Legal Assistant handling mainly insurance matters until March 2007 and thereafter he joined the firm of M/s Kanaga Suresh & Co. in March 2007 as a Legal Assistant and handles mainly insurance claims.
He started his own practice under name of M/s SV Nathan from February 2010 until December 2014 doing running down cases and criminal cases.
He rejoined the Firm as a Legal Assistant in January 2015 and handles mainly insurance claims.
6. Ms. Hema Malar Rathinasamy LL.B (Hons) London, CL

Hema graduated with Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of London in 1995. She completed her pupilage in the Chambers of Lakshmi Ganesh & Co where she received her training under her master Ms Lakshmi in litigation matters particularly in areas of family matters including matrimonial and custody matters, probate and administration and landlord and tenancy matters. She was called to the Malaysian Bar on 24
th September 1999.
She joined M/s David Lingam & Co as a Junior Legal Assistant in 2000 where she was exposed to variety of conveyancing matters including handing consumer and commercial loans, drafting of Sale and Purchase Agreements for sub-sale and mainly developer’s work and had developer clients such as Sunway Group & MK Land.
In 2004 she joined M/s SN Yap & Associates and was in charge of the Conveyancing Department and continued to be active in conveyancing matters and had developer clients such as Hap Seng Development Sdn Bhd and further was exposed to post auction matters and corporate work.
In May 2010 she joined M/s Manjit Singh Sachdev Mohammad Radzi & Partners as a Senior Legal Assistant where she specialized in sub-sale matters and was in charge of the Sub-sale Department at the firm.
She joined the Firm as a Legal Assistant in December 2010 and handles conveyancing matters.
7. Mr Leonard Raj a/l Kanaga Raj LL.B (Hons) London, CLP, LL.M (IIUM)

Leonard Raj holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of London and obtained his Certificate in Legal Practice in 2011. He then served as Federal Counsel at the Attorney General’s Chambers, Putrajaya.
He chambered with Messrs R. Nethaji Rayer & Co and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 3rd January 2014. Leonard commenced his legal career as an associate with Messrs.R. Nethaji Rayer & Co and since then has primarily focused on litigation and arbitration matters related to civil, commercial, insurance law, construction law, criminal/quasi-criminal and employment matters amongst other miscellaneous areas of legal practice.
In 2023, he obtained his LL.M in Business Law from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
He has conducted matters in all tiers of the Malaysian Courts and quasi-judicial tribunals.
He joined the Firm as a Legal Assistant on 16th May 2024 and is currently involved in general litigation as well as banking litigation.
8. Cik Nurhamizah binti Abdul Rahman LL.B (Hons) MMU

She obtained her LL.B (Hons.) from Multimedia University (MMU) and subsequently commenced her pupillage at Messrs A. Rahim & Co., under the mentorship of Ms. Shymala. d/o Armugam Chettiar on 3rd August 2015, she was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
With a strong passion for civil litigation, Nurhamizah has gained extensive experience in banking and finance litigation. She has also assisted in representing employees in industrial relations and unfair dismissal disputes at the Industrial Court, as well as in commercial disputes.
In family law matters, she has represented clients in applications to the High Court of Malaya for the citizenship of adopted children and has acted in both uncontested joint petitions for divorce and contested divorce proceedings.
Additionally, she has substantial experience in motor insurance litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in various cases. Her work includes handling claims related to motor vehicle accidents, determining liability, and negotiating settlements. She has also assisted in the defense of insurance companies in various claims providing her with a well-rounded understanding of the nuances in motor insurance law.
She joined the Firm as a Legal Assistant on 4th November 2024 and handles mainly insurance claims as well as banking litigation.
9. Cik Nurjuhaida Mohamad Shahir LL.B (Hons) UUM

Juhaida graduated from Universiti Utara Malaysia with LL.B (Hons) in 2014.
She completed her pupillage in M/s Kadir Andri & Partners where she received her training in conveyancing matters particularly in areas of Islamic banking and finance matters. During her period of pupilage, she received her training and guidance in handling litigation matters. Juhaida was called to the Malaysian Bar in 2015.
Thereafter she joined M/s Ghani & Co as a Legal Assistant where she handled sale and purchase agreements for housing projects and loan documents for various financial institutions.
Juhaida then joined M/s Maziana & Associates as a Legal Assistant in 2016 wherein she was primarily trained to handle matters involving insurance litigation. She then continued her litigation practice with 2 other law firms and in the course, she amassed experience and knowledge in running down cases. conveyancing and banking.
She joined the Firm on 13th October 2022 as a Legal Assistant and handles mainly insurance claims.
10. Ms.Leena Subramaniam LL.B (Hons) London, CLP

Leena graduated from University of London with LL.B (Hons) in 2013 and completed her Certificate of Legal Practice (Malaysia) in 2015.
She completed her pupilage in Messrs Anad & Noraini in the chambers of Ms. Navamalar a/p Ganesan. During her period of pupilage, she received her training and guidance in handling litigation matters particularly in banking litigation.
Leena was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 18th November 2016 and thereafter was offered a position as a Legal Assistant with the Firm.
Her area of practice is civil litigation, which includes debt recovery for banks and various types of execution proceedings including but not limited to bankruptcy proceedings and winding up proceedings and other miscellaneous matters.
11. Mr Renessh a/l Thanabala LL.B (Hons) London, CLP

Renessh graduated from University of London with LL.B (Hons) in 2019 and completed his Certificate of Legal Practice (Malaysia) in 2021.
He completed his pupillage in Messrs Anad & Noraini where he received training in conveyancing matters from his master, Mr Ramesh Kumar a/l Periannan and litigation matters particularly insurance litigation from Mr Anpalagar a/l Suppiah.
Renessh was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 10th February 2023 and thereafter was offered a position as a Legal Assistant with the Firm.
At present Renessh handles mainly insurance claims.
12. Cik Salmah binti Rabun LL.B & Syariah (Hons ) USIM
Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Judicial & Advocatory Practice USIM

Salmah graduated with LL.B and Shariah (Hons) USIM in 2018 and Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Judicial and Advocatory Practice at USIM in 2022.
She was a chambering student (Shariah) at Rafidah Yacob & Associates from February to September 2022. She completed her pupillage in Messrs Izzat Muhtar & Hasra in the chambers of Ms. Zaimil Hasra binti Zainal. During her pupillage, she was exposed with various area of law such as criminal, general litigation, Grant of Probate, Letter of Administration and Shariah cases.
She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 24th July 2023 and thereafter joined the Firm on 1st August 2023 as a Legal Assistant and currently handles conveyancing matters.
13. Cik Nur Irdina binti Mohd Fauzi LL.B (Hons) IIUM

Irdina graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia with LL.B (Hons) in 2023.
She completed her pupilage in Messrs Anad & Noraini in the chambers of Mr Anpalagar a/l Suppiah. During her period of pupilage, she received her training and guidance in handling litigation matters as well as conveyancing.
Irdina was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 12th July 2024 and thereafter was offered a position as a Legal Assistant with the Firm.
At present Irdina handles conveyancing and other miscellaneous matters.
14. Ms Lavanya Muralitharan LL.B (Hons) London, CLP

Lavanya obtained her law degree with honours from the University of London, graduating in November 2021. In 2023, she successfully completed the Certificate of Legal Practice, awarded by the Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board.
She then underwent her pupillage at Messrs Anad & Noraini, working under the guidance and mentorship of Ms. Navamalar a/p Ganesan. During this period, Lavanya gained invaluable experience in handling litigation matters, particularly in banking litigation. She also worked on running down matters and was exposed to conveyancing throughout her nine-month pupillage.
Lavanya was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on October 25, 2024. Following her call to the Bar, she was offered a position as a Legal Assistant at the Firm.
Her practice area primarily revolves around civil litigation, with a focus on debt recovery for banks, as well as execution proceedings, including bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings, among other miscellaneous legal matters.
