The Partners

         1. Dato’ M. Anad Krishnan LL.B (Hons) (S’pore)

Dato’ Anad Krishnan read Law in the University of Singapore and graduated with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) degree in 1978. In 1979 after completing his pupillage with Tan Sri Dato’ James Foong, he was called to the Malaysian Bar. Thereafter he joined Messrs James Foong& Company as a Legal Assistant and was in charge of litigation. In 1981, he was made a Partner of James Foong& Company and thereafter the name of the firm was changed to Messrs James Foong & Anad.
In the course of his practice, Dato’ Anad Krishnan has acquired expertise and knowledge in handling litigation, conveyancing, banking and corporate work and international consultancy and representation.
In respect of litigation work, Dato’ Anad Krishnan has handled a wide variety of matters, including complicated commercial disputes and has appeared not only in the High Courts but also the Superior Courts in Malaysia such as the Court of Appeal, Federal Court and Supreme Court. He also had the occasion of appearing before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Currently, his litigation practice is solely limited to attending to various complicated disputes in the High Court and the Appellate Courts.
In respect of banking, corporate and conveyancing work, Dato’ Anad Krishnan has to date, been handling the firm's financial and corporate clients and is therefore, well versed in all matters pertaining thereto. Based on his expertise, he was invited by M/s Bumiputra-Commerce Bank Berhad and M/s Khazanah Nasional Berhad to appear as their expert witness in a trial in Toronto, Canada, involving a claim for a very substantial sum. He has also acquired first hand corporate experience having been an independent director in public listed companies.
Dato’ Anad Krishnan has been doing significant corporate work in the course of his practice and was the Solicitor involved in the listing exercise of Bina Puri Holdings Berhad in the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and the merger of MCIS Insurance Berhad and Zurich Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad.
In the course of his practice, Dato’ Anad Krishnan has acted for M/s Tenaga Nasional Berhad (“TNB”) when TNB acquired a coal mine in Kalimantan. Dato’ Anad Krishnan has also represented a number of other investors and has advised them with regards to the legal structure and the acquisition of coal mines in Indonesia.
Dato’ Anad Krishnan is very knowledgeable about the developments in the Iskandar region in Johor Bahru. He has acted and continues to act for a number of developers who are currently developing various types of shops, offices and apartments in Johor Bahru.

 

         2. Mr. Anpalagar Suppiah (Mr Mohan) LL.B (Hons) Lond, Bar At Law (Middle Temple)

Anpalagar read law as an external student of University of London and graduated with honours in 1988. Thereafter, he continued his barrister course in the Middle Temple, London and was called to the English Bar in 1989.
On completing his barrister course, Anpalagar returned to Malaysia and read in the Chambers of M/s Zain& Co., where he received instructions in various fields of the Law. On completing his chambers, Anpalagar was called to the Malaysian Bar in June 1990.
Anpalagar then joined Messrs Yusuff Lee Pathma and Marbeck as a Legal Assistant and subsequently, he joined Messrs P.G. Lim & Co. till April 1993. During the tenure of his work, Anpalagar handled mainly litigation matters including insurance recovery claims. In addition, Anpalagar also handled conveyancing, banking and estate matters.
Anpalagar joined the firm of Messrs ANAD & ASSOCIATES as a Legal Assistant in May 1993 and was subsequently made a partner of the Firm as of 1st October 2001.
At present, Anpalagar is in charge of the insurance department of the Firm and mainly handles running down matters, subrogation claims, public liabilities claims, workman compensation claims, fire and burglary claims and medical malpractice claims.

         3. Cik Wan Nazma Asyikin Binti W. Yusoff LL.B (Hons ) UiTM

Cik Wan Nazma Asyikin Binti W. Yusoff graduated with a Bachelor of Law Degree from University Teknologi Mara in December 2006. Thereafter she read in the chambers of Mr. Anpalagar a/l Suppiah who is a Partner of the Firm. During her period of pupilage, Cik Wan Nazma Asyikin Binti W. Yusoff received her training and guidance in handling litigation matters particularly in banking litigation.
She was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 3rd January 2008 and thereafter was offered a position as a Legal Assistant with the Firm. Her area of practice is civil litigation, which includes debt recovery for hire purchase companies, banks and various types of execution proceedings including but not limited to bankruptcy proceedings and winding up proceedings and other miscellaneous matters.
She was appointed as a Partner on 16th August 2010. She assists Mr Anpalagar in managing the growing portfolio on matters relating to dispute resolution and litigation.

 

         4. Mr Ramesh Kumar Periannan LL.B (Hons) London, CLP
            ramesh@anadnoraini.com

Ramesh read law under University of London and graduated with honors in August 1994. In 1995 he completed his Certificate of Legal Practice with Honors which is awarded by the Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board.
 
Thereafter he read in the chambers of the Firm’s Managing Partner, Dato’ M. Anad Krishnan. He was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on 23rd November 1996.  He started his own practice until July 1998 and thereafter went into private business until July 1999 when he returned to practice with the Firm and concentrated in litigation.
 
His exposure in litigation among others involved matters pertaining to insurance law, law of tort including negligence, medical malpractice, defamation and assessment of damages. He also handled matters relating to recovery of debt and the related insolvency, bankruptcy and companies winding up.  He also has experiences in agency matters and land acquisition. 
 
In November 2005 Ramesh left the Firm to be engaged as a contracts manager in a power plant engineering company for the Tg. Bin Power Plant in Pontian, Johor until January 2007.
 
Thereafter he returned to the Firm and is currently involved in litigation as well as in conveyancing and drafting.

 

         5. Ms Michelle Lee Sze Yiing LL.B (Hons) MMU

Michelle graduated from Multimedia University with LL.B (Hons) in 2017.

She completed her pupilage in Messrs Anad & Noraini in the chambers of Ms. Sharmini a/p K Palanisamy. During her period of pupilage, she received her training and guidance in handling litigation matters as well as conveyancing.

Michelle was called to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya on 17th August 2018 and thereafter was offered a position as a Legal Assistant with the Firm.

At present Michelle handles conveyancing and other miscellaneous matters.

 

         6. Ms. How Siew Peng LL.B (Hons) Cardiff, CLP

Siew Peng graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff with an Honours degree in law. She was called to the Malaysian Bar in year 2001 and has been in continuous active practice since. She was an active student in sports and clubs during her secondary school days and was appointed the President of Sports Club, President of Girls Guide and Vice President of Chinese Society.

Her pupillage was completed at the firm of Messrs Arthur Wang, Lian & Associates and thereafter was offered a position as a Legal Assistant with the Firm.

She has broad spectrum of experience in advising full range of clients, from property developers to end purchasers on real estate transactions and property related matters such as acquisition by local individual/company or foreigner of real estate properties from sale and purchase of residential and commercial properties with or without individual title. She handles master leases and tenancies of commercial of commercial shopping centre as well as residential premises.

She handled banking work for Public Bank Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, MBSB Bank and others, general corporate and commercial matters as well as finance advisory work. She has also handled corporate due diligence exercises and has advised corporation in general legal issues.

Siew Peng joined the firm of Messrs ANAD & ASSOCIATES as a Partner in May 2023.
